A good risk calculator would be invisible – it’s shape would overlie perfectly the yellow rectangle where the people who will develop cardiovascular disease over the next decade are represented.
The risk calculators we use are depicted in other colours; Qrisk2 is the best, in pink.
But it is still not very good, meaning that it misses lots of people, and identifies lots of other people at higher risk when they are not.
