How do people eat so much? For breakfast, it’s a bowl of whole grain cereal with a portion each of dried fruit & fresh fruit. Then I have a main meal in the afternoon & that’s it. How do I get 5-6 portions of 80g / 3 heaped tablespoons of veg to fit onto my plate, as well as the protein & carbs? I have a piece of fruit & something sweet in the evening if I’m hungry, but normally don’t feel hungry ’til the next morning – how does anyone eat so much? (I’m 65 & have weighed the same for 25 years).

No one seems interested in properly auditing the consequences. The government seems to feel it is imperative to hide the truth of this rationing.
I am going to ask our CCG for a response for their tardy action. They had my mother in laws papercwork for 10 days and signed it the 24 hours before she died.
I was able to fight her corner. I don’t want other families to have to repeat the experience.

These harms are going uncounted and I find this truly unforgivable.

Just listened with Ibterest about the hard stops being applied by CCGs. Recent experience has shown me that this is also affecting palliative care and ends of life care for the elderly. Two personal experiences in october 2916 where a dying friend had to wait to be “fast tracked” for nursing care at home. She didn’t get it in time and died in a hospice. And my mother in law who died from the effects of dementia degeneration who was assessed for nursing care provision in her nursing home but the CCG stalled signing off the provision so her last dying days were made more tricky due to stupid paperwork issues about who was allowed to give her palliative medicines. It was a battle and I am glad I am a nurse to be able to fight her cause for her.
The CCGs are interfering in all sorts of levels and it is not helping our health service to be intergrated. It is widening the gap between community and hospitals.
In my field of specialism of Pain Medicine I see more folk arriving for bread and butter surgery already on substantial doses of opiates which makes their post operative recovery more difficult. They have had to manage for up to a year going through the hoops the CCG has put in place. Their quality of life has been substantially affected and they arrive to surgery déconditionnes and harder to rehab.
It’s very frustrating to see the decline in provision. I have been a nurse since 1984 so have seen the rise and now the fall of the system and I’m very fearful for my patients going g forward.

Comment on NHS is failing and must obviously be privatised by Best Paper Editor http://margaretmccartney.com/2016/10/25/nhs-is-failing-and-must-obviously-be-privatised/#comment-306067 Mon, 30 Jan 2017 18:13:25 +0000 http://margaretmccartney.com/?p=3891#comment-306067 I think that privatization is not the worst solution. I think that this will open up new perspectives.

Then a letter perfectly addressed letter from blue crest, never ever heard of them before, arrives.
Open letter to read in bold black font about my risk for stroke.

Most most distressing for me as my family member is my world and this loss was so unexpected

It is so bizarre this letter about stroke perfectly address to me that it has really creeped me out. Who and how on earth would give them this info about me or my postal address and is this really like someone’s idea of a sick joke. I’m not sure where to turn on how to resolve this. Is there any sort of governing body that can help or would a solicitor be a better option

If the biggest majority of the population knew this, the current ” attendance” figures would decline even more!!.
By the way, to “opt out” (of a screening programme that you didn’t even to sign up for personally in the first place) ask for a disclaimer form.

Comment on Facts and notes: Jeremy Hunt, 4/10/16 by Richard.davies3@nhs.net http://margaretmccartney.com/2016/10/05/facts-and-notes-jeremy-hunt-41016/#comment-299874 Wed, 23 Nov 2016 22:58:16 +0000 http://margaretmccartney.com/?p=3870#comment-299874 You should be more prominent in national media. Your recent article in the Independent regarding Westminster using the NHS as a chew toy was extremely well written and incisive. More so than anything uttered from rcgp recently. We need more prominent medical figures to avert losing our NHS. Patients need us as their ongoing advocates to do this. If it fails who is their advocate? Mr Branson? Jeremy possibly satisfies many DSM criteria for psychopathy and believes data questioned by prof Winston and Prof Stephen Hawkin. It is no coincidence ha was previously culture secretary and has many fingers in media pies. No coincidence he took his safe seat from cousin Virginia who was also health secretary and now is potentially CEO to a company that NHS professionals may soon be privatised by as Westminster is selling it off despite being profitable. Slow strangulation of NHS continues while he wears a supercilious grin and repeats automaton sound bites.

Like many others, I was initially tempted but thought I’d do some online research of my own. It seems from what I’ve read that they are not even qualified nurses who carry out the tests; the prospect of having blood taken by a a ‘health professional’ – whatever that means – makes the whole thing a complete no-no for me.
