Cheaper than a consultant psychiatrist or even CPN and more effective for some?

Care to offer any evidence to support that suggestion Claire?

hello Claire, the question would have to be how you would judge that. If a patient is seeing a psychiatrist, generally they would have significant illness (most of my patients with mental health problems will not see a psychiatrist.) It is in more serious mental health problems that the best evidence for drugs is for, and I certainly wouldn’t routinely use things like antidepressants for mild depression.
But I wouldn’t use homeopathy either. I wouldn’t do this because there are lots of interventions (non drug) that do work, and I’d consider it dishonest to use a placebo when there are proper evidence based interventions to offer. I’d also consider the ‘homeopathic consultation’ a waste of time when the time could usefully be used discussing how the patient is and what is happening in their life. best, mgt

I’m not a physician but should we to be closed to any new practise as the population in the UK continues to get fatter and sicker? Does the evidence show homeopathy to be a hoax?
